Complete printer test: a controlled physical comparison
Use this first when the print problem is unclear or after changing ink, toner, paper, a printhead, a driver setting, or the printer itself.
What to inspect on paper
- Every color patch prints without a missing channel.
- Gray steps remain distinct from paper white through solid black.
- Fine lines stay continuous and the central crosshair meets cleanly.
- The outside safe-area frame is complete and centered.
What a clean result looks like
- Color bars are even and neutral grays do not carry a strong tint.
- Thin rules, small type, and checker patterns have crisp edges.
- No repeated horizontal gaps, streaks, doubled lines, or clipped corners appear.
What the result does not prove
- Missing cyan, magenta, yellow, or black points to an output-channel problem.
- Repeated bands or broken lines deserve the dedicated nozzle and banding sheet.
- Uniform scaling error is usually a print-dialog or driver setting, not page geometry.
The sheet is the diagnostic instrument.
I/O Checkup prepares the controlled pattern and opens the browser print dialog. A webpage cannot reliably read your printer model, queue, driver faults, ink or toner level, maintenance state, or mechanical condition. Diagnose those systems with the printer manufacturer’s utility after the physical sheet shows a repeatable symptom.
