GPU Stress Test vs Benchmark
Set a controlled graphics workload, observe sustained frame delivery, and interpret slowdowns without assigning a physical cause from FPS alone.
Begin with a short, light run
Choose Quick check and the Low preset first, especially on a phone, fanless laptop, or unfamiliar device. Check that the scene appears and the stop control responds. Keep the device ventilated. Sustained workloads can increase heat, noise, and battery use even though this page cannot measure them.
Change one control at a time
Stress mode lets you explore adjustable load over time. Change resolution, iterations, ray steps, or object count separately. Benchmark mode instead fixes the settings for repeatable comparisons. A heavier stress run is not automatically a better benchmark, and changing controls breaks comparability with the standard configuration.
A slowdown has several possible causes
A falling FPS trace can reflect background work, browser scheduling, driver behavior, power management, or thermal throttling. It does not identify which cause applies. Correlate the report with a trusted system monitor if you need physical telemetry. A steady trace does not prove hardware stability.
Stop, recover, and repeat
Stop if the device becomes unusually hot, noisy, slow, or unstable. A hidden page or lost graphics context can interrupt the run; inspect its stop reason before comparing it. Let the device return to a similar starting state, then repeat with the same configuration and save both reports.
